 RSH
Architects worked with the building committee at the Church of the
Covenant in Washington, Pennsylvania to develop a space
and function study, defining physical needs, actual and desired spaces,
agencies, technical systems and site amenities to respond to their stated
program.
Based upon the accepted study and budget, RSH Architects began
work on the design of the improvements and addition. In an effort to unify the
church's overall appearance, RSH carefully selected materials that would match and compliment the traditional
stone architectural elements of the original structure. The renovations included
converting the basement social hall into a
daycare and primary Christian education area, and reconfiguring existing offices on
upper floors into adult education and
administrative spaces. The addition also provides a new handicapped accessible
entrance with
an elevator serving the entire complex; a multi-use fellowship hall with
dining and kitchen facilities; and second floor classrooms and lounge areas
for middle and high school age members.
