Architects was retained by the Borough of Green Tree through a
qualification-based selection process to provide architectural services
for the planning, building and site design, construction document
preparation and contract administration of a new public works and
maintenance facility and
related site development adjacent to Wilson Park in the suburban
Pittsburgh Borough. The project required careful siting, in that
public pool patio and lawn court lies directly above the building.
The site also required careful placement of the building for vehicle
access and maneuvering room to address the nine bay garage. A
flanking wing houses the public works offices and staff areas. A
mezzanine above this area provides storage of maintenance stock.
In addition to the vehicle storage facility, a salt storage facility was
designed to contain up to 800 cubic yards of road salt under cover, with
additional open bin storage for road materials.
