Miller Avenue Apartments

RSH Architects was commissioned to design the renovations to two 1940 era apartment buildings in the City of Duquesne PA. Each building was to house 12 apartment units a community space, laundry, and a new elevator. The existing buildings were solid, but the finishes and apartment design had started to deteriorate over the past 10 years. The first floor was more than 3 feet from the grade at the doors making the accessibility renovation more of a challenge.

The design and development of the projects was made possible through a combination of funding vehicles. Section 202 of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Supportive Housing for the Elderly funded one building while the other was funded thought tax credit financing. The projects were sponsored by Action Housing, Inc., a not for profit corporation.
