St. Peter’s Church

A small congregation numbering less than 40 elderly members in the urban core of Pittsburgh sold their large building to a Pentecostal church. The new structure is located on a portion of the congregation's cemetery property adjacent to Leech Farm. The new design was inspired by the gothic character and massing of the structure that they were leaving. Exterior elements such as rusticated stone base, red brick walls, gothic arched windows and doors, and the bell tower were embodied in the new design. The project responds to both the aesthetic needs of the church as well as amenities desired by an elderly occupancy, including ease of access, low maintenance, and simple mechanical/electrical systems.
