Caritas Christi

Bearing a name that signifies “The Charity of Christ” in Latin, Caritas Christi is a newly designed 128,000 square foot motherhouse, which serves as the heart of the congregation for both new and elderly members of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill.

Ground broke for the facility on a cold, overcast day in April of 1998. It is located on a scenic hill overlooking the City of Greensburg, Pennsylvania (an eastern suburb of Pittsburgh), and has been designed as a place to gather, worship, work, and grow.

Assumption Hall, the previous residence for the Sisters, which was built in 1952, was demolished to make way for the new motherhouse, a three-story structure with a partially below-grade ground floor that contains health maintenance, kitchen, meeting, and service facilities.

The Main Floor includes a 4,000 square foot chapel, a 140 seat dining room, a 150 seat meeting facility, and a 12 bed Alzheimer’s Unit, as well as administrative and ministerial outreach offices, library, archives, ice cream parlor, and an Adult Day Care Unit. The Second Floor and Third Floor contain a total of 86 living units.
